Plants on Pink Woven Landscape
Plants on Pink Woven Landscape
This wall hanging is a part of my "Woven Landscapes" series. It started out with color inspiration from the instagram account plants on pink. I love the contrast of deep greens on pastel shades of pink and coral. The piece evolved into a lot a more.
Before I even began, I was picking out the yarns for this piece and discovered other reasons why i was drawn to these colors. My mother Wendy Sue Schrag passed away 7 years ago, and I have fond memories of her wearing olivey greens and she also owned a lot of coral/pink tops and sweaters that complimented her olive complexion. One of the green yarns in this piece was a cotton one I crocheted a lace top out of for her on her birthday one year. These were some of her favorite colors. When she first passed away, I would see a lot of vibrant pink and coral sunsets and think to myself that it was her painting the sky. From time to time, I still get those sweet reminders. I still connect with her in nature a lot. She was a florist and a lover of botany. What started out as a purely aesthetic inspiration grew into deeply meaningful and healing experience for me.
